[ACARS] Unusual Oceanic Clearance Request Message

Dick

Looking at my logs then I think he got no reply and then corrected his
mistake. Normally an Oceanic request is followed by an 'ack' message. In
this case all that happened were two 'link test' messages. After that a
correct format request was issued. That was followed by a whole slew of
'ack' messages. One might surmise that at least one was a request to contact
Shanwick by voice and have a discussion about FL - he asked for 360, max.
380 and was cleared at 340: normally they would offer him another track at a
higher level and often the request from BA aircraft contains an NBT (Next
Best Track) identity

The clearance was followed by the usual 'ack'

A bit of a surmise ....

Happy Christmas to all our readers and good logging in 2003

With special thanks to Bart & Bill Croy for the regular updates of the new
aircraft

Ed
