Folks
Just got back from 3 weeks in Costa Rica birdwatching and ploughing through
all the emails. Someone asked why after he replaced his broken 286 with a
386 the size of the logfile should have reduced by 20% (I think). Was in
'delete/next' mode and only thought about it later by which time the name of
the email sender was long-gone. So it is all the list or not at all!
Having used about 8 different PCs with DOS Airmaster the most critical
factor is the distance between the PC and the antenna - some PCs radiate
much more RF than others and interfere with the reception. Always run with
the screen switched off is a good idea (unless you want to watch in real
time!)
Laptops can be even worse - especially some of the external power units, and
even more so when the internal battery is being charged
Keep the mobile phone away from the antenna as well!
Hope that might be of some use
I have 4 Airmaster dongles which I use on a variety of PCs with Yu125, 225
and MVT7100 scanners and there seems to be very little difference in their
ability to decode messages however I configure them apart from the RF
sensitivity. The MVT7100 is by far the most sensitive
Cheers
Ed
