it was OSHKOSH b'gosh...
Two stations copied the 1mW, 40 meter beacon and they share some startling
similarities: Both are expert low signal operators. Both used Ten Tec
receivers and Beverage antennas. Both have unbelievable patience and
perseverance. Both are of high moral character and can be trusted with
your wife. Both are from North Carolina and neither is a surprise.
W4ZV, Bill, and AA4XX, Paul were the only reports. Since Bill lives 68.7
miles further away than Paul, he keeps snatching the prize. So, the 40
meter N2XE RX high water mark now stands at 548,700 mi/watt.
Tonite I have a feeling that the magnetosphere is going to settle down and
the high X-ray dose currently soaking the ionosphere is going to produce
good 80 meter propagation.
Tonite's test will be on 80 meters--3545.5 KHz-- at... are you ready...
40, yes 40 uW!!!!!!!!!!!! Let's see if Bill or Paul can bust open 12
million miles per watt.
Stay tuned, 73
N2XE
