Anything in the vicinity of a 4square which is even close to resonance at
the frequency of the 4 square will interact and affect the pattern of the 4
square.  This is most noticeable by observing the 50 ohm port power on the
ComTek box, but SWR will often also give an indication of this problem.  SWR
in and of itself is not of great significance.  I once put up an 80 meter
loop too close to my 80 meter 4square and my front to back on the 4 square
almost disappeared.  When I checked it out, I had more power coming to the
50 ohm port of the 4 square when I was using the loop than I did when I was
using the 4 square.
