[70cm] 432 MHz amplifier

That was probably from a Motorola D34CMT. Actually, the 6907 operated on highband (150 MHz) and then fed a varactor tripler which put out 18 watts FM on 450 MHz. I have things like that around since I owned the Motorola reconditioned equipment center for the south-central United States from 1970 until 1979 when Motorola went out of the reconditioned equipment business. General Electric had a low power 450 MHz FM unit that also used the 6907. I would have to take a look at my collection of two-way manuals to determine just which unit. Frankly, I don't remember if GE also used a varactor or not.

I am trying to go with solid-state. Tube type low level linear amplifier won't be any trouble to build and I'll go that route if all else fails.

My 432 MHz CW transmitter uses a replacement varactor for the D34CMT to triple from 2-meters. It can put out about 30 watts with enough 2-meter drive.

By the way, the Class "A" Citizen's Radio Service, which is now the GMRS, used FM, not AM.

Glen, would a former 'Class A CB' UHF transceiver power amp work as a linear for you? It uses a 6907 as I recall and was of course AM.... I cant recall whether it was GE or MOTO....
