[600MRG] One step closer to a Q on 630m

?Hi Neil,

well done, what mode was used for the QSO with Steve (and what were the signal levels)?

If it was FT8 there should be a good chance to make a QSO on 630m using FST4-300 or FST4-900.

I would estimate that the antenna efficiency wil be about 12 to 15 dB worse on 630m, so you will have to compensate that by using using a slower mode (and/or more power).

LF/MF gang,

Last night Steve, VE7SL, and I completed a QSO on 160m. I was using 50w into my 630m antenna but with a small variometer tuning it to 160m. We had to find out if my inverted LV that lies on the shingles of my HOA condo could reach Steve on 160m. Our next step will be to see if this antenna can reach him on 630m.

After our QSO, I beaconed WSPR on 160m. I reached AK for the first time on this band at this QTH using the inverted LV.

Here is who spotted my 160M WSPR:

The band must have been very good here overnight. Steve and I will try a QSO on 630m soon.

Stay tuned ...
