Greetings, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all:
Last night displayed some of the best domestic 630 meter band
conditions in a long time and possibly ever from my standpoint here in
Texas. CW signals were strong and while QSB swings could be wild at
times, I've never reported a station on skywave as strong as I did
N9RU last night during our QSO, where Tom peaked 40 over S9 at one
point. Other notables were W3TS and KB8U plus a period where AB0CW
was heard for the first time this season. W3TS reached a legit 44 dB
S/N on my reverse beacon node later in the evening. Noise was very
low (S0) and signals were strong, lending itself to Hi-Fi CW..
All of this success was on the heels of some of the worst conditions
in a long time over the previous week.
Mike, WA1JAS, Maine sent a recording (below) of his copy of the QSO
between N9RU and me. The band was remarkably stable at his station
and signals were armchair copy. Thanks to Mike for sending this
video. His antennas were covered in ice or he would have also been on
the air.

There is word that Petr, AG6EE, may be QRV from his NV retreat on
digital modes in the coming sessions if anyone is looking for NV.
Solarham is reporting chances for G1 storm levels in the coming
sessions, which could go either way as far as band conditions are
concerned.
73 and hope to see some of you on the air this weekend,
John KB5NJD..
