I did just read on KB5NJD's daily report (https://njdtechnologies.net/110119/):


Neil, W0YSE, reported that he "...wanted to monitor JT9-5 along with JT9-2 this session, but cant get two instances to keep working here..."


It is indeed NOT possible to run the same SlowJT9.exe twice for the reason that they will fail to share the same decoder executable.


But there is a simple "workaround" to run 2 (or more) instances of SlowJT9 simultaniously:


1. Install SlowJT9 in a directory of your choice (eg. C:\SlowJT9\Instance1\)

2. Copy all content of this directory (including its subdirectories) to another directory (eg. C:\SlowJT9\Instance2\).

3. If you need more than 2 instances running at the same time repeat step 2 (of course alway in another directory).


Now you should be able to run SlowJT9 from each directory (once) at the same time.


But keep in mind that the decoding from multiple instances is rather demanding on the CPU, so it might be tricky on a very old computer.


I have been running up to 4 instances of SlowJT9 simultaniously on a 7 year old Dell with a duo E7500 CPU (2.93GHz) and 4GB RAM without problems.


And of course: if you want to run SlowJT9 from a desktop icon you will need to create one for each instance!
