Well, off the air for most of a year, but finally have something going on cw again for 630 QRP. Just finished a 630m loading coil today, loads beautifully, good gone, etc. Five whole watts output, which might give me a radiated power of 0.05 watts on 630 :)

Pi network Tank circuit on this single tube, 50CD6G transmitter required a 250 uh inductor, with 700 pf plate, 5300 pf output load. I didn't know such numbers existed. Anything lower would be DC.
Out of about 15 of the old FT-241 tank crystals I only found two out the batch that work. But hey, one is all it takes.

Worked 80m cw with this rig couple of nights ago, 3.5 watts, 1700 miles, so maybe on 630 I can do a couple hundred miles. We'll see what happens. Monitoring 473 to 475 for cw in the early evenings. Glad to be back on the air again, even if it's barely enough power to disturb the ether.
