[600MRG] WSQ at 1 baud !!!

w0yse will be running WSQcall v2.00 tonight at 1 baud. This speed is twice as fast as the default speed. Altho' it is still slow (about 1 second per lower case character) yet it is a mode that can provide a chat type QSO when other 'chat' modes cannot get through the noise. Thru-put at 1 baud is around 10 wpm or better.

Last night a couple of stations were able to ping my station for signal reports at 1 baud. A couple of others were not able to decode my signal due to the fact that the program defaults to 0.5 baud when launched, and they had not changed the speed to 1 baud after launching WSQcall.

On another topic, the new version of FT8call is out but it forces all beacons to an offset of 500-1000 hz. This will not be acceptable for some locations as it will conflict with JT9 operations. As a result, I will not be using it for the time being. I will stay with JT9, WSPR and WSQcall using the normal dial of 474.2 kHz.

Good luck to those who are able to decode my WSQ and/or ping it for an SNR report. I will set it for 30 minute soundings thru-out the night.
