Hi all:

I suppose we all are well aware of the need for good grounding. Much is said
about RF ground, and Lightning protection.. and proper wire sizes..
After my plunge into the transmit side on 630 meters; I discovered that my
shack grounding - which seemed to be adequate even on 160 meters - was
woefully inadequate on 630 meters. I discovered this by seeing my metering
change when my hand got close to, or I moved a wire around. Knowing this
was not a good thing, I have been on a 2 day excursion thru the shack
replacing, or adding " Large guage " ground wire, and bonding station equipment
together as it should have been in the first place.. WHAT A DIFFERENCE !!
The improvement was immediately seen. Quirky actions from the equipment
settled down, and The exciting improvement I am seeing is an increase in
RF Current !! It has raised from 1.2 amps up to 1.3 amps, and doing the
math shows that my Feedpoint Impedance has dropped a couple of Ohms..
So, I'll log this one in the " Lesson Learned " catagory.. Now, on to the
next lesson..
