W7IUV has been running WSPR2 24/7 on both 2200m and 630m. The 630 station has been setup this way since we got the band and before that as WH2XGP. The 2200m station has been monitoring WSPR for quite a while and the TX/RX capability is relatively new.
The purpose of the 24/7 operation is both to promote activity and to provide signals and reports allowing operators to work on their stations. Most people (except Eric) work on their stuff during daylight hours and having the WSPR reporting system available means they can more easily monitor their progress.
The same goes for any newbies that might be lurking out there. Beside having a signal to look for, active operators just being there, waving the flag, might encourage them to get on the air.
I strongly recommend that whenever possible others at least run WSPR during the day. Show some interest here guys, maybe we could convince newbies that there is a reason to get on! We really should take advantage of the unusual permission the FCC granted us to run LEGAL unattended beacons on these bands!
Having said all that, due to some planned maintenance, W7IUV will be shut down later this week for approximately two days. The exact time of both shut down and restart are not yet known and depend on several ongoing things around the house.
