[600MRG] Regen Rx? I'm Missing Something?

Ahhh, muzak to me ears... You're not missing something Frank, you got it.
One of my top shelf heroes is Major Armstrong who really thought his way
through it all. It began when Fleming invented the valve ( electronic
check valve ) then deForest inserted a grid so that a little change of
grid voltage would cause a large change in plate current.
That carried the day for at least two decades when it all exploded in to
greatness.
It seems that deForest had great success with amplification but was
vexed by loud clatter and uncontrollable runaway current later to be
called 'oscillations' and discovered by Armstrong who learned to tame
the same, thus the first phased locked loop.
Pure genius, practical application, cheap, even a crystal set mechanic
could build one.
Just for chuckles one day I tuned in WBZ, 50kw, Boston AM, 1030, loosely
coupled the oscillator to a frequency counter and there was a rock solid
readout, exactly the same as the RF from BZ only a bit different phase.
Yeah, why not micro super regen detectors X 25 in one tiny chip inside
of a great big receiver?
Thanks, Major, we needed that!

and the new age or radio was born in to big time.
