You can get a good idea on rf ammeter accuracy using 60 Hz line voltage ...
make a series circuit with a 100 watt light bulb and VOM or DMM (that measures
ac current). If you don't have a VOM or DMM just calculate the current ... for a somewhat more rough idea.

Subject: [600MRG] Maiden Voyage - Somethings Not Right

Greetings all:

With close to 60 transmissions since 1900 UTC today ; not a single spot from anyone.. Even with an attrocious antenna,
I find this quite strange .. I started matching the antenna with my SWR meter, and an LF modified Field Strength meter.
The FS meter shows a peak, when the SWR meter shows minimum .. Later, I put an RF Ammeter inline, and it shows
1.39 Amps of antenna current .. Calibration / Accuracy of the Ammeter is unknown.. here is a dropbox link for a
recent transmission:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/2i3kd4j0k47igdz/RF_Current_Reading.jpg?dl=0

My Transmit Converter uses a 4 MHz Crystal, so I am transmitting on 4.474.20 MHz - USB which should come out
of the converter at 474.200 KHz .. There are several stations within 60 to 120 miles of my station, none of them are
hearing me .. accepting the possibility that I have a HUGE Dummy Load in the air; I am quite befuddled at this conundrum..
Looks like the Maiden Voyage got stuck in port...

73 all:

Andy - KU4XR
