Dear WSQ2 users (and others who might want to use WSQ2 more effectively)....
I tried an experiment tonight using WSQ2 (the DL verstion) to get a signal report from another radio running WSQCall.
If you know the checksum of your callsign as it is generated by the WSQCall program, you can use it within the DL version of WSQ2 to trigger a response from a station using WSQCall .
I tried this with WSQ2 running on the w0yse radio/pc and got a signal report back from w0yse2 running WSQCall on my second radio/pc system. Here are my results with explanations...
w0yse:e2 Vncvr.WA <<= my normal sounding message from first radio “w0yse” whose checksum is “e2”. This is what is sent when I am sounding using WSQCall. Checksums are generated by the WSQCall program.
w0yse:e2w0yse2? <<= an SNR request sent to my second radio (w0yse2) via WSQ2-DL version on the first radio/pc system. The question mark is the syntax for requesting an SNR.
w0yse2:3ew0yse -1.8 <<=my second radio sends a signal report of -1.8 dB back to my first radio
Note: “w0yse2” has a checksum of “3e” as generated by the WSQCall program

So....you could use WSQ2 to trigger reports from anyone running WSQCall if you like. I hope some of you might find this useful.
