Also interesting that it will not be channelized much longer. I wonder how we will make out with 15 watts e.r.p. ? (or is it 25w, I forget...) Well, JT65 would work well, because I can do it in a couple of mouse clicks. While good for collecting states & countries, it isn't much of a QSO mode. PSK-31 would be more chatty, but also more difficult for me. I can type some, but I tire easily. CW would be nearly impossible. SSB would be the easiest, as I have a foot switch for that. Not very skilled at QLF here. I am right handed. My right arm is presently in a soft cast after a mishap on the Fort Bliss Rifle Range. This soft cast goes right down over the first knuckles, and across the palm, with very little flexibility at the wrist (the whole idea is to immobilize the tendons, there is a big gel-pad at the elbow). Perhaps an iambic paddle, if I slap it around. But I am probably too clumsy for the finely tuned Vibroplex. And totally forget a straight key. This is going to make my trip to Germany in two weeks most interesting. I have to change trains in Wurzburg Hochfeld, right where the terrorist axe attack happened. It isn't my first rodeo, but I have never been this non-op before either. Off and on I have spotted my friend and hiking buddy DJ9MH on 60m-JT65. I have not connected with him yet, and as the days get longer it has become increasingly difficult. But OTOH I will be hiking with him on 9 June when we climb Totnasberg for a joint SOTA activation. He will do CW, I will do SSB. Then we will hike down and across the valley to the next summit where the wives and other friends will be waiting to party at the gasthaus @ Kissinger Hutte. the antenna I carry over will work 60m, and I may give it a try over there too. But a 5-watt FT-817 isn't likely to cross the Atlantic.... so don't get up early trying to catch me! I love V/UHF SSB over there, so likely several hours will be spent on the mother-in-laws balcony overlooking the city of Schweinfurt calling CQ on 144.200 or so. I am about to throw on the backpack radio and go for a walk while on 6m-SSB. There is a net tonight, and the NCS will be on my side of the mountains. So I'll be heard well with 10 watts on a backpack radio. Perhaps tomorrow I can get the home station on 60m while I work around the shack. Vy73 - Mike - KD5KC. El Paso, Texas - DM61rt. I had a nice chat with W4VAB this morning on 5348 kHz CW. I am glad 60 meters is more than just an SSB band. Nothing against voice contacts at all. Also interesting that it will not be channelized much longer. I wonder how we will make out with 15 watts e.r.p. ? (or is it 25w, I forget...) My antenna doesn't have much gain anyway so I need to calculate the losses of a mis-mached antenna with negative gain to figure up how much powre I can run, considering transmisison line losses etc. etc. Has there been any discussion here about th enew restructions that will be coming when we go to a non-channelized band at 60m? 73 de AF4K, Bry ______________________________________________________________ 60-Meters mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/60-meters Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:60-Meters at mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html ______________________________________________________________ 60-Meters mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/60-meters Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:60-Meters at mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html ______________________________________________________________ 60-Meters mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/60-meters Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:60-Meters at mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html ______________________________________________________________ 60-Meters mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/60-meters Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:60-Meters at mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html ______________________________________________________________ 60-Meters mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/60-meters Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:60-Meters at mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html ______________________________________________________________ 60-Meters mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/60-meters Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:60-Meters at mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html ______________________________________________________________ 60-Meters mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/60-meters Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:60-Meters at mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html From AF4K at hotmail.com Wed May 31 19:58:17 2017 From: AF4K at hotmail.com (Bry Carling) Date: Wed, 31 May 2017 23:58:17 +0000 Subject: [60-Meters] 60-Meter QSO this morning In-Reply-To: <000601d2da67$b62bdbe0$228393a0$@rr.com> References: <013301d2d4e6$c4b3a5c0$4e1af140$@rr.com> <013a01d2d4f1$e409f3b0$ac1ddb10$@rr.com> , <000601d2da67$b62bdbe0$228393a0$@rr.com> Message-ID: Fb Mike. I have listened on and off, JT-65 and SSB on 60m. Didn't see/hear your call at all. On the GOOD side of it all, my arm is feeling much better. I just need to avoid hurting it again hopping from train to train. Another Wednesday night, another 6m-SSB net on 50.130 @ 0200 UTC (2000 MDT). I have the backpack radio charging, almost ready to go. Yes, A JT65 contact would certainly be most welcome and we could also try SSB. Best regards - Bry Carling, AF4K Tel: 321-262-5471 On May 24, 2017, at 8:57 PM, Mike Olbrisch > wrote: Howdy Bry. Well, JT65 would work well, because I can do it in a couple of mouse clicks.
