I hope all is well in Montana.

I have a few high-power amplifiers here for 6M and 2M that I need to? get rid of
since I am selling my place and moving to Reno.
(These are a bit heavy to ship so I would much prefer if they could be picked up
here in Wellington, about 50 south of Carson City.)

Hi all!

KB7Q and I are busy getting ready for the trip over to eastern Montana to activate 
this confluence of rare grids. Since my kw portable amp quit on me last Saturday 
while I was up on Sunset Mountain in DN37tc, we will be using 350w from a TE Systems 
amp. I am also planning to use my 6M8GJ yagi, which will make up for some of the 
power reduction.

We hope to be QRV by Friday night.? Please look for us in the mornings on 50.273 
MSK144 meteor scatter and on 50.313 using FT8 when there is Es . We are planning on 
being QRV through Monday.

Finally!

As many of you have found out by now, I uploaded over 300 6m contacts from last 
weekend for these four grids to LOTW. If you need a hard copy QSL, please send an 
SASE direct to me.? If you are interested in contributing to help defray the travel 
and property use expenses, my PayPal address is the same as this email address.

One concern that came out of this operation was the fact that many of the double hop 
stations were hampered by a very crowded FT8 band. 50.313 was never that crowded here 
in Montana, but I appreciate the fact that stations along the East Coast had to deal 
with many single hop stations, plus European stations, that we of course never could 
see. So I think it is a great idea to use something like 50.303 for grid DXpeditions 
operating FT8 mode. The only problem of course, is somehow getting the word out about 
the DXpeditions and the frequency. Many of the stations we did decode never answered 
our CQ, even though they were not already in the log. Apparently they were unaware or 
uninterested in working a DXpedition to a rare grid. I tried calling "CQ FFMA W7GJ 
DN56" for a while, but I think that might have confused people more than alerted them 
that they might want to contact us while we were in a rare location.

Anyway, I just hope we can agree on the best way for these DXpeditions to rare grids 
to gain exposure and provide the most results possible. Thanks to all who DID make 
the effort to contact W7GJ last weekend on 6m, and my apologies to those of you with 
whom I was unable to complete.
