From w7gj at q.com Thu May 2 18:53:30 2019 From: w7gj at q.com (Lance Collister, W7GJ) Date: Thu, 2 May 2019 22:53:30 +0000 Subject: [50mhz] Update: CP1GJ in FH53kt Message-ID: <1ae775da-c107-8c9b-cb51-85230aeeea05@q.com> Finally - GOOD NEWS!!! I just received word that my callsign will be CP1GJ. I leave this Sunday morning before dawn. All the details are on my web page at: http://www.bigskyspaces.com/w7gj/Bolivia%202019.htm The grassy area where I plan to put up the antenna has free-ranging alpacas, but the hotel manager said he could tie them to prevent them from stepping on the coax or disturbing the antenna aiming lines coming down to the ground.? ;-) JT65A with Deep Search still seems to be the best choice for EME, as long as the callers are in my call3.txt file (which I seem to be updating every day recently!), so I will be transmitting first sequence JT65A on 50.190. I am tentatively planning on using the most recently released version of WSJT-X, for the most sensitive - and now the fastest - decoding. As I explained on my CP web page, my WSJT-X "offset" will be 1271 Hz, so I am at DF=0 for WSJT10 users. People should call me + and - 1000 Hz, and ideally they should spread out every 200 Hz (taking their doppler shift into account). Please coordinate your calling frequencies using the ON4KST EME CHAT page: http://www.on4kst.org/chat/login.php?band=5 Remember, I will be using the W7GJ DXpedition procedure. If this is your first rodeo, PLEASE PLEASE read my web page!!! I don't think I will have a very good horizon or quiet moonrise, but I know horizon-only stations in eastern NA only have a window with me then. So I will try, and it may be OK at some azimuths, but I am not counting on much for my moonrise. I have asked the EU stations to try to avoid my moonrise, to provide a clear window for the East Coast NA stations. We will see how bad my moonrise situation is and I will try to announce it after I get set up. If you copy me on JT65A via some ionospheric mode while I am on the moon, please call me on JT65A with shorthand messages just like it was an EME contact. When I am not on the moon, I will try to monitor FT8 on 50.313 toward NA. If you think you have propagation to me on FT8, please give me a call! If I am sleeping, I will hear JTALERT wake me up when it hears my callsign ;-) I will try to get on the internet at least once a day to update my log of stations worked. Wish me luck getting set up at 12,500' after traveling 30 hours without sleep. Please also be understanding if it takes me a little longer to get set up than usual! GL to all, and I am hoping I can provide a new DXCC to many of you Magic Banders! It is very much a "standard" six meter beam. It is the time of year that six meters should be opening up, so get this antenna to be ready. This antenna is in good shape. Actually, it still shines. Since it uses stainless steel hardware, you do not need to worry about rust and corrosion. This one was made in New Hampshire. Although this one includes paper work, it is also marked for easy reassembly. Get this one for half the price of a new one. Only $70. Pick up near Ocala FL would be best, but it could be shipped if needed. That is obviously not included for $70. . I have a variety of other VHF and UHF beams and omni directional antennas available, but I will not list them here, since they are not 6 meters. Please contact me directly. I also have a variety of HF wire and vertical antennas available. Thanks. 73, Ken, W8EK Ken Simpson E-mail to W8EK at FLHam.net or W8EK at arrl.net Voice Phone (352) 732-8400 . . The QSL cards have been ordered and I hope to be able to mail them out in the next couple of weeks. If you have sent me an envelope, your card will be mailed first, since it saves me to trouble of looking up all the addresses. I look forward to contacting you in September from another even more rare one! I have just received my license for S79GJ for September ;-) All the information is on my website here: http://www.bigskyspaces.com/w7gj/Seychelles%202019.htm GL and VY 73, Lance -- Lance Collister, W7GJ(ex WA3GPL, WA1JXN, WA1JXN/C6A, ZF2OC/ZF8, E51SIX, 3D2LR, 5W0GJ, E6M, TX5K, KH8/W7GJ, V6M, T8GJ, VK9CGJ, VK9XGJ, C21GJ, CP1GJ) P.O.
