I am selling my Link 250-UFS.
250-400 watt 6-meter FM base station.
1948 design. Gray, 78" tall.
Here are the details.
Please reply to me at the phone contact below, or e-mail.
I do not reliably get messages from this group due to e-mail issues.
1.) Matches 50-200 Ohms coaxial.
2.) Originally 30-50MC, now on 6M. Past owner converted it.
3.) Nominal deviation +/-15KC (narrowed depending on adjustments)
4.) Carrier power is 250 to 400 watts. It depends on drive and loading. Power
supply rated 2KV/300mA.
5.) It has been on the air but is not currently working due to a dynamic short
in the 50-watt 2x 807 driver chassis. I have a spare driver chassis and two
other chassis and a spare 250TH final. If you call, I can tell you about the
short. It's more of an arc across a piece of coax, looks like. I did some
troubleshooting and the individual power supples and chassis check out, however,
when fired up both the HV and LV together, there is this fault. OK, well I'm
selling it so someone else may get to play with that. It would probably be
obvious once the driver chassis is removed, which I have not gotten around to
doing.
6.) Also, some 150 watt dissipation tubes than can be subbed directly in the
250TH socket and will make about 200W. I may have to look for those.
7.) Handset is included ("local control"). Otherwise has 50 Ohm (single button
carbon mike) or 200/500 Ohm line balanced input and 500 Ohms/1 watt output. Uses
a 4-wire cable for remote to the operator console.
8.) It is crystal controlled and is easy to change frequency because of built in
metering and the simple design and procedure.
9.) This is a large unit, tall with internal rack rails.
10.) For those who don't like FM, I guess it can be used for AM TX with cathode
modulation, or the final can be rebiased and used for SSB amplifier, if that is
what is wanted. Other receivers would be needed, certainly. But I think most
hobbyists would like it as intended, an FM base station.
11.) seven good pictures are here:

(starting on the second row)
12.) full manual is here:
http://www.bunkerofdoom.com/kd5oei/link/linkmenu/Linkmenu.html
(it's the larger unit, but note the receiver is the more advanced 7-ed model
shown in the smaller 50W unit's manual)
13.) The manuals includes notes on the conversion to get up to 50-54MC. They are
fairly simple. The paper manual from which this was scanned is around here
somewhere as well.
14.) size:
24" wide
18" deep
78" tall
380 lbs
115VAC power
A thick glass with the Link logo in the front door allows the 250TH to be
observed/enjoyed.
15.) It uses 866's mercury rectifiers in the 2000V power supply. I can trade you
for 3B28's free if you want. It uses 816's mercury rectifiers in the driver
power supply. I have FAA pull solid state sticks that will work for all 4
rectifiers for $5 each.
$285. Pick up in Dallas Texas.
This merely reimburses me for the two 250TH's and other tubes/parts, making the
unit itself free.
You must bring your helper as we need to clear a little space to get it out of
the rack line-up in the shack and to the door. Not too bad.
Bring a sturdy 2-wheeler hand truck. We can easily manage it with that.
