Oh no, that's awful news. Although I've been out of touch
for a few years, Steve was a great friend. We had many, many
contacts on the air. From my location on eastern Long Island,
he was a "local", so we often used to rag chew on 432. I also
got to know him in person at the New England VHF conferences
throughout the 80's and into the 90's. We shared many beers
(my head still hurts) and many great laughs. Someone dubbed our
table at the banquets "The Rowdy Table", and we no doubt
deserved that! Then we would go back to the Sheraton hotel
in Nashua and close all the bars there too. So many fun times.
I visited Steve at his home in North Madison a few times, too.
Ate wonderful white clam pizza at some little hole-in-the-wall
place with him and Lori. He was a brilliant guy, but such a down
to earth guy too. Rest in peace, Steve. You were truly Far Out.
John, N2BFJ
