Point the antenna straight up -- with the reflector at least as far off
the ground as the distance between the reflector and the driven element.
And, insure it's pointed straight up at open sky...
If you are using something like a MFJ-259 to check the tuning and the
SWR, do not stand 'in' the antenna to do the measurement. Use a
n*1/2 wave section of coax to connect the device to the antenna and
stand/sit/lay well away from the antenna to observe the measurement.
I oft times find the antenna pamphlet 'suggestions' for setting up an
antenna to be somewhat removed from reality. HI!HI!
