[50mhz] polarization ?

I want to mount a near-omnidirectional antenna for general monitoring
purposes on 6M. A Simple Dipole will probably work, but I might want to
explore other options. I have a Yagi to switch to if I hear anything.
My thoughts have been on a 5/8 wl Vertical GP, but I don't know the effect
of the polarization.
For conventional HF, like 40M, polarization seems to change over the DX
path, so it is common for a station to mix transmit and receive
polarizations, without problems.
Modeling shows that I should be able to concentrate the pattern into the
region below 24 deg, by varying the number and "Droop" angle of the radial
GP elements. Some gain results.
Commonly, verticals are used in the FM part of the band, but I am more
interested in lower frequencies. (Within the 6M band)
I have used Polarization as my subject, but, really, advice on other aspects
of this matter are welcome, and no wire or tubing has been cut yet, so I am
open.
