John,
That AZ opening didn't reach me here in DM41, but later in the afternoon
the band opened to ID, MT and WY as well as northern CA. KB7Q was very loud.

After an absolutely terrible May for Es, we finally got a decent opening
yesterday. The band started yesterday AM into Florida, and then stayed open
for 8 or 9 hours or more, following the coast as the opening moved North
into VA/NC/SC/TN, then finally into Ohio and Michigan. There was also a
secondary opening from Oklahoma into Colorado and Arizona during the
morning. Signals from 4 land were as loud as I have ever heard on 6m,
sometimes hitting 50 db over S9! Also had an opening into the Carribean,
where I worked FG4NN for a new country, and NP4A. Also worked VE3IKV/M to
the north in FN05 for a new grid!
So, yesterday resulted in 1 new country and 2 new grids. Let's do it
again
today! Setup here is an Icom 706 original at 100 watts to a MFJ 3 element
Yagi at 30 feet.
