EXCITING NEWS!
As you may already know, PE1L and team are going to activate PJ4 and PJ2 on 2m EME
next month:

http://www.emelogger.com/curacao/default.asp?page=eme
But wait... there isn't all! By popular demand, they also will be setting up a
horizon-only 6m EME operation from PJ4 DURING THE DAYS OF APRIL WITH THE BEST 6m
EME CNDX! PJ4X will be operating on both moonrise and moonset when their moon is
below 20 degrees elevation, providing them with ground gain lobes. Experienced 6m
EME operators know that these ground gain lobes can make your horizon-only antenna
perform like a 4 yagi array, and this is how single yagi stations are able to work
6m at all.
Here is the basic information directly from PE1L:
/////////////////
STATION: 7 el LFA shipped from PA to PJ4 and sponsored by
http://www.hpsd.nl/
ANTENNA HEIGHT: About 6m (ground gain lobes perhaps around 8 and 16 degrees)
POWER: 600+ watts output
CALL: PJ4X
LOCATOR: FK52ud
MODE: JT65A mode in WSJT software package -
http://www.physics.princeton.edu/pulsar/K1JT/wsjt.html
SEQUENCE: PJ4X always will TX FIRST sequence
FREQUENCY: 50.210 (watch ON4KST EME chat page for any changes)
DATES: 13, 14, 15 and 16 April
QRV: During moonrise and moonset when moon is below 20 degrees elevation.
STATUS UPDATES: They will be on the ON4KST EME chat page -

////////////////
Naturally, this is a great opportunity for any 6m stations with large steerable
arrays who can aim at the moon during moonrise or moonset in PJ4 and is especially
exciting for stations who are not within easy Es range of PJ4. For EU stations,
watch for them early on their moonrise because that direction is better, and their
antenna can see the water in the distance so there may be a good very low ground
gain lobe.
But wait...there is EVEN more! If you are in VE1 or W1, your moonsets are the
same as in PJ4, so you can BOTH take advantage of ground gain at the same time!
And if you are further west in North America but have a horizon-only single yagi
station with good higher ground gain lobes, you also have a great opportunity to
align your ground gain lobes with the moonset lobes in PJ4. When ground gain
lobes line up at BOTH stations, REAL MAGIC can happen!
Their moonsets during this period are late at night, and TEP should not be in the
way then to degrade the EME. Here are their moonrise and moonset times:
Wed April 13 0500-0615Z (moonset), 1830-2000Z (moonrise)
Thu April 14 0550-0700Z (moonset), 1930-2055Z (moonrise)
Fri April 15 0635-0750Z (moonset), 2025-2155Z (moonrise)
Sat April 16 0720-0835Z (moonset), 2125-2255Z (moonrise)
So if you are interested in working a new country next month, dust off your 6m
rig, add PJ4X in FK52ud to your call3.txt file (from any WSJT screen) and make
sure JT65A mode is set up for best results on EME:
