I've been on 6 meters since 1991.From 1991-2009 in EM-57, from 2009-present in FM-05.  So far this year has been a dud for me. I think this has more to do, for me, with my QTH rather than general conditions.  I was "centrally located to work most of the US when conditions were good.  Also, 20-14 years ago there were few ops in EM-57 on 6 meters. From 3-9 I believe, making us, then a fairly rare grid.                                        Now, in a fairly populated grid as well as on a coast.  Openings aren't to and from as many areas here "when the band is up".                                                                                                                            The Midwestern weather patterns are differnt this year and severe thunderstorms do affect
the E layer and conditions, either for the good or bad..depending upon your and the other station's position to the storms. In EM-57 we often had openings to 7-land when severe weather was occuringin parts of 0-land. Worked many DN and CN stations at those times.  Like others have said, each season is different.                                      Rob N9LAG
