It is nice to see where the band isboppen for those of us trapped at work
and that have not stopped to figure out having spots show up on our trickey
phonelike devices

I have pickup some rare ones while at home not in the shack thanks to email
spots, but delete most and go happily on my way

Because most that do spot via email do not know how to use the DX spotting
network.

The DX Spotting network is 99.99% web now, almost nothing of packet radio.
Why do you need to be near a radio to get spots? I can get spots sent to my
phone if I want. If I am in the shack, the spotting network is up and
running and I will bet anyone one here I see spots before anyone sees them
via email (if I am in the shack). If I am not in the shack, I can still
monitor the cluster from any computer connected to the web or on my phone.

Connect to a real DX spotting node (not one of the internet based spotting
site), one that will allow you to enter filters, then set up your filter to
receive spots you are interested in.

SOAPBOX ON:
Email spots are OK if someone requests them but I imagine very few find them
useful and send them straight to the trash. If someone really wants spots
via email, someone should send them directly to that person.
Just my opinion.
SOAPBOX OFF:

NG9R
sysop at NG9R CC Cluster and NG9R-1 DX Spider nodes

:::: You have it a little bit misunderstood. The DX spots are indeed on
the cluster ( I spot every one I'm aware of) You choose to ALSO receive
the spots via email, not INSTEAD of.
In addition, if they were only spotted on the cluster, how would I know
the band was open if I'm not near a radio?
