  I have been on the band for 50 years and I can tell you that nowadays 
you never have to miss a band opening. Unless of course you're not 
retired and working :-)
We live in a wonderful hi-tech time. If you use Ham Radio Deluxe 
software to control your radio, all you have to do is click on the DX 
info on the screen and it tunes your radio to the station, and can even 
turn your beam. As soon as I do this, I press the button on my radio and 
my recorded voice calls the station......gotta love it!
