Hello Everyone,
I want to thank everyone who provided help and support for the activation of
Curacao on 6 m EME. In particular, thanks to Lance for getting the idea
started, loaning me his 6 m amplifier, and providing guidance every step of
the way. Also thanks to Geoff, W0CG and Jeff, K8ND, for helping with all
aspects of the antenna and station work here on Curacao.
It would have been great to make more QSOs, but it was not in the cards this
trip. I have posted my ALL.TXT log for Wednesday through Friday on my web
site, www.w8wts.com. As you can see, I copied quite a few stations, but the
difficulty was all on this end with a single 5 element yagi and 300 watts.
The RF environment here is extremely quiet, but I didn't have the ERP to be
heard everywhere. It was a long shot that I would be heard by anyone, but I
was determined to give it the best try that I could. I have many photos,
which I will post on my flickr page, www.flickr.com/photos/jmgalm, as soon
as I get home next week.
Should the EME conditions be favorable on an upcoming trip to PJ2, I will
definitely try to make some skeds. I typically operate from PJ2 at least
twice per year.
I will keep in touch and continue learning about this fascinating mode.
73,
Jim, PJ2/W8WTS.
