[50mhz] [VHF] Icom 7000 as a VHF/UHF rig

I've often said that if I could have only one radio the 7000 would be it. I
use it with the LDG AT-7000 tuner on HF and mobile HF but it is presently in
the shack.

I recently had it configured to run WSJT 65b on 2 meters working EME without
a pre-amp at the antenna no less driving a Commander II amp to a pair of 13
element yagis. I could hear large stations well and completed one QSO with a
OM in Denmark before pulling it down for other gear.

Great radio IMHO!

I have never used the other rigs, but I do have the 7000 in my truck and use
it as the rover unit. In a roving application, it can't be beat. The big
deal is the noise blanker. Being able to eliminate all traces of ignition
noise without messing up selectivity is a big deal. The other filtering is
great as well, but that noise blanker is golden.
