IN AFRICA...

This is just a quick note to update you on a situation that some of you were very
interested in following. The 6M8GJ yagi that I used so successfully in the E51SIX
DXpedition was sent to 5H1 for use by the recent 5H1MS/5H1HP EME DXpedition. The BAD
NEWS is that they unfortunately were not able to collect it from the post office in
time to put it on the air from 5H :-)

HOWEVER, they WERE able to claim it and transfer it to a South African contact
associated with Derek, ZS5Y. So the GOOD NEWS is that the 6M8GJ is alive and well,
and eventually will make its way down to South Africa. Derek has plans to activate
several different nearby DXCC in Africa, and will use this antenna for these
operations. He is currently looking for a 6m RF deck for a GS35b (he has a tube and
power supply) to use during these DXpeditions. If anyone knows where there might be
such an amp available, please contact ZS5Y directly.

IN ASIA...

I just received word from Mike, UN8GC, that he has successfully received the 6M8GJ
yagi he purchased for the JT65A EME DXpedition in EX during mid-August ;-) This
operation could set a new record for 6m EME QSO's, due to the excellent EME cndx at
that time, and the fact that Oleg and Mike will have both moonrise and moonset out
over a big lake (low noise and excellent ground gain) and those times are also the
moonset and moonrise for NA stations with horizon-only antennas on 6m! Mike is also
going to be visiting here in the USA in W1 land at the beginning of July, and hopes
to obtain a USA Extra Class ham license at that time, which will make it easier for
him to be licensed for other DXpeditions.

6M DXPEDITIONS TO NEW DXCC ...

If you are interested in working these or any other of the numerous DXCC's coming up
on 6m EME and are not already on the MAGIC BAND EME email reflector, please send me a
summary of your 6m station and I will subscribe you so you don't miss any new. It
also is recommended that you watch the NEWS section of the MAKE MORE MILES ON VHF web
page for the most recent updates regarding any of these DXpeditions:
