This is GREAT NEWS and we are very appreciative of your plans to include 6m EME in
your plans for Midway! I hope it also will be possible for you to use an ACOM 1000
as one of your ACOM amps, so you will be able to operate with a kw on 6m. Those amps
have proven very successful on past 6m EME DXpeditions.
Although I am sure you will receive calls from some NA and AS stations during your
moonsets and moonrises, the real joy will be for the EU stations. As previously
explained, during the dates of your trip, the moonrises in KH4 are the moonsets in
EU, and the moonsets in KH4 are the moonrises in EU. Therefore, there should be very
good opportunities for horizon-only stations to complete with you while you are
enjoying good ground gain by aiming out over the ocean.
I have put together a list of tips for coming up to speed quickly on JT65A mode (the
standard for 6m EME) at:
http://www.bigskyspaces.com/w7gj/JT65.txt
There also is an article discussing 6m EME DXpeditions with some suggestions for how
to make the most of your limited operating windows at:
http://www.bigskyspaces.com/w7gj/DXPEDITIONS.htm
Best wishes for success, and please let me know if I can assist in any way. VY 73, Lance
