[50mhz] CQ VHF Contest conditions

I think this is my first posting to this group, but I have been a 
'listener' for a long time.

Since I was still getting the 70 CM portion of my station up and going, 
I did not enter the contest, but got on a couple of times and gave out 
my Grid, EM80.

A chap about 80 miles to my west, reported working into Poland. Gee, at 
this point in the Cycle, this couldn't have been F2 propagation, was 
it????

It 'had' to be multiple hop. Perhaps 5 or more??? Just curious.
