I have a FT690RII and a FT690RI...as well as a FT857D and FT100D...the later
rigs have a better front end and there were mods (preamps I think) for the
690 series...given the 680 was before the 690 (in number as well as design
though the 690RI had 2.5watts and the 680 did 25 iirc), the front end would
be about the same...but the 690Rs are not that deaf compared to my 857D or
100D....they can hear ok...just not as good...(maybe 5-6db down)...

Subject: [50mhz] Yaesu FT-680r

Hi All...

Any Yaesu FT-680r 6m owners out there ? Has anyone ever compared the
rig to another 6m unit ??
Does the 680 have a good receiver in it ??

I compared the 680 to my FT-817... the 680 seems deaf on rx compared to the
817. I thought the 680 would have been a hot rig...

Any thoughts ?
