I am currently using the W5WVO_A50-5 yagi here. After using the stock A50-5
for a few years, I saw the need for the enhanced F/R. This mod makes a very
good 5L yagi and after using it for 3 years now with the mod, I can say that
it works as designed.
But!
I'm really intrigued by the 6 element YU7EF design on a 6.85 meter boom.
YU7EF designs are in widespread use (other than CONUS) and all reports
indicate that they are very low temp antennas that work well. I see that
W7GJ shows a few pics of stations that have used single yagis for 6m EME
contacts. The elements are insulated from the boom and provide a 50 ohm
dipole feed for the driven element, requiring only a 1:1 balun at the
feedpoint. Worth looking at!

I did a post a few days ago asking about HyGain 6m antennas. I've read a
few items that say since MFJ took over their QC is bad.
I'm looking to replace my 3 el Cushcraft with sometning a bit better. I'd
like 4 el or 5 in a 12' or less boom. And $$ is an object.
I found several. Gushcraft,Comet,HyGain & if I can pull up the $$ M2.
.........
I'd like some opinions/experience with any or all. Or am I missing some?
