  Your "attachment" is how the system handles "Rich Text".
If your system sent out Plain Text messages, that would not happen.
This one is also Rich Text.

  Gentlemen: A few days ago I sent a message to the reflector regarding
  the sale of my ICOM7000 radio. Somehow, unknown to me, an attachment of some
  sort got attached to my message. I have no idea what it was because I haven't
  been able to recover it. I sincerely apologize for any offense it caused because
  I had no knowledge of it. This a new e mail address for me and I do not
  save sent messages so don't know what it said. Again, I apologize for any
  grief I may have caused anyone of my six meter colleagues.
