[50mhz] Opinions wanted on 6m radios

Only reason why I left it off my list is :
I forgot about it! And never had any real experience with it..but a good rig
from what I understand...will add it to the list :)

BTW my experience with DSP vs a RF NB??? Hands down, a GOOD NB will get rid
of the noise better than DSP...
You HAVE to get rid of the "RF" noise to be able to HEAR the signal at
all....otherwise the DSP has nothing to work with..I RARELY run my DSP in my
857D except to round off the audio (2700Hz LP and 200Hz HP) on both Rx and
TX....

this so called HIFI SSB a few years back?? A POS joke and ILLEGAL AND
impractical.....a SSB filter will only pass 300-2800 max...usually
less...trying to pump 4-6or 8 kHz through it?? AHHH can we say distortion???
SORRY it just don't work and be clean, legal, etc...and Riley busted a few
of them iirc.

My 35yrs in BROADCAST engineering knew that would happen! And I can easily
prove it with test gear on the bench..
WHY do you think TOLL quality telephone is 0-4kHz; Actually more like 200Hz
to 3400Hz except in modern T1 chanels it's a bit better like 100Hz to
3900Hz?? Because THAT'S where the power of the SPEECH energy is...NOT in the
HI end...that's MUSIC...and we are NOT a music service...sorry for the
soapbox but its needed a lot these days!

My $0.10...because its 5x worth more than two!! :)

Not much mention of the Yaesu FT-920. Any particular reason why?

It does need additional filtering I think to make it as good a RX as it has
the potential to be, but Inrad has that taken care of. I will say it has
one of the most useful and effective DSP systems I've played with and that
includes the Yaesu FT-1000 family of radio's (MP and MKV) and the Icom 756
Pro series. (the Pro is no slouch though..)

Had a very nice Kenwood TS-600 a couple of years ago as my first 6m radio on

a recommendation from a friend. Probably was a nice radio in it's time but
I wouldn't waste the time and effort on it today.

I've heard good things about the Icom 746....very hot receiver.
