DONT get a PAR antenna!!!..I was trying to put my stacked PAR OA50s back up
today....thanks to the POS T they sent with the phasing harness that NEVER
worked right....the stack has been laying at a 45 deg angle on the fence for
the last 6 months with the tips pointed UP and away from the ground so NO
strain on them at all (just as if they were mounted in the air).....I
FINALLY got time to try to put it on the roof today......and GUESS WHAT??
The bottom OA50 almost fell OFF because of the poor bracket it uses....the
thing CRACKED right at the bend....from what?? Just being in the weather??
No UV protection??? IF THIS would have happened with the antenna on a 70ft
tower, I WOULD be VERY mad right now....I am just a little passed POed right
now...BUT coupled with the poor construction, the lack of GOOD connections
on the boom to elements, the use of PC Boards as CAPACITORS when good
UNDERWOOD HV caps would do and take more power, I will NEVER buy one
again....I CAN NOW BUILD one now that I measured the capacitance of the
matching network...which is CHEAP by Cushcraft standards........GEESH, maybe
I start making better ones (that will sell for maybe twice the price BUT you
can run 500watts or more into them!)...

I know where a commercial 3 element Cushcraft Yagi for 48Mhz is lying on the
ground....in good shape...but its NOT easy to take apart and
reassemble.....Sorry Bill.

A friend of mine is looking for a Cushcraft or similar 3-element 6m yagi for
use in portable operations. Ease of assembly/disassembly is key. Please
respond off-list to Ross NS7F: rjtucke {at} gmail.com.
