Adam,
I'm quite happy with my IC-706mkIIg, which I bought from the estate of a
very heavy smoker ham.

I opened both top and bottom, gently wiped down all surfaces in and
outside with a damp rag having mild dish washing soap on it, then with a
damp rag w just pure water, and then with an absolutely dry rag.

I used a few Q-tips soaked in alcohol to wipe down the boards, as much
as I could reach (gently!).

Let the radio sit open for a few hours. ... no smoke, no odor anymore
... but I managed to "smoked out" 174 DXCC entities with it so far.

Remember however, "if you let the smoke out of the parts, they won't
work anymore!" ;-)

Cheers and 73
