Hello!

In case anyone has not heard, I am sending out information again, this time with
additional information I have received from K6MYC and W5GAI. Mike advised that
all his flights are confirmed for an October 15 departure and his visa is in hand!
This is an unprecedented opportunity to contact a rare but very well equipped DXCC
on VHF! Please distribute this information widely! This is all the information
available at this time.

Expected dates of operation are as follows (dates not shown are travel dates):

P29VLR (in QI45UM) Oct. 21-26 (GREAT cndx for 6m EME and toward the end of the
period and a common moon with horizon-only stations in NW EU on their moonrise)

P29NI (in QI28mm) Oct 29 - Nov 3 (Common moon with horizon-only northeast USA
stations on their moonset)

Expected frequencies are 50.205 (JT65A mode) and 144.125 (JT65B mode), and P29
will always XMIT in the first sequence. There will be no internet, but there may
be some limited email and/or HF liaison via 14.345. It is expected that anyone
receiving updates will post them on the N0UK JT65 and ON4KST 6m chat pages for the
rest of us:

Please, let's do our best to coordinate among ourselves on the internet and spread
out our calls!

Anticipated 6m antenna is two 6M7JHV stacked side by side with manual elevation.
Special attention will be made to get on 6m during moonrise. It is expected that
Mike will probably only run a single yagi when they relocate to P29NI at the end
of the month. He will be running an 8877 on 6m. Depending on availability of
another operator from the HF group, he may be operating 2m at the same time.
Depending on time and propagation, there also may be TEP opportunities on 6m.

The 2m array will be two XP20 antennas side by side with full elevation. He is
hoping to be on from moonrise to moonset, depending on activity. The amplifier
will be an 8877 or 350w solid state amplifier, depending on generator capacity. I
know there already have been requests for meteor scatter activity from VK
stations, but it is anticipated that EME will take priority. Please watch for him
on meteor scatter if the moon is not up, but remember that the operator is human
and will have to sleep sometime, too ;-)

Conditions for EME begin to deteriorate during the first few days of November, so
stations are advised to try to contact Mike in October, as early as possible in
the trip.

Mike is encountering over $2100 extra equipment shipping charges - in addition to
his personal plane and boat traveo costs. Each contact will be at a huge dollar
investment - please do what you can to make the dXpedition successful and also
contribute what you can to the costs. Along the same lines, I am attaching a
letter from W5GAI, Skip, one of the other team members regarding costs for the
DXpedition:

**********************************************************

I am part of a October 21-November 3, 2008 QRV, 5 man DXpedition to two rare
IOTA's OC-181 and OC-041, plus putting P29 on the air for the very first time
ever on 6/2M EME and 11 years since the last on 160M. My team members include
veteran DXpeditioners Derek G3KHZ, Luis CT1AGF, Al AD6E, Mike K6MYC.

Our web site is http://www.425dxn.org/dxped/p29_2008/

We will have 4HF stations QRV plus an EME station. The EME station will have dual
long boom yogis and 2 FT100+amps and JT65 software. 3 30M-10M HF stations will
have beach side vertical dipoles using a K3 and 2 IC-706MKIIG's and 2 amps.
160/80/40M station will have a Titanex V160E for TX, a K9AY loop system and
phased pennants for RX, a K2+amp.

Team costs for the boat charter is approx. USD$25000 ($5000 each), travel is
approx. USD$15000 ($3000 each).

I am making this personal appeal for your help to recoup some of our freight
expenses. Our freight, estimated at USD$1500, is now looking like at least
USD$3000, given recent increases in freight charges and our goal to bring the
best setup for a superb signal on EME and 160M from P2. We have raised
approximately $1200 at this time.

If you would like to donate to the cause, you can www.PayPal.com a donation to
me using scameron at Austin.rr.com or send a check to my street address.

Thanks for your consideration. Please also pass this on to our email list.
