[50mhz] Where's the Es?

I'm not as impatient for the Es season to start this year as I usually am,
because I took to playing with meteor scatter on WSJT modes in January this
year, and that's been fun. Have worked 26 states on the 6m rocks since the
first of the year. But it's about time for Es! I've shifted from monitoring
50260 to 50125. :-)
Typically there are one or two isolated "early bird" Es openings in late April
or early May. Haven't had one this year in the western US. But I don't count
those as being the start of the Es season. IMO, the Es season starts when
regular openings start to occur, like every 2 to 3 days or so, on average. In
New Mexico, anyway, that typically starts right about NOW, May 12 - May15.
So yeah, it's time. Visualize those high-altitude horizontal wind shears
starting to take shape about 65 miles up, and those nice thin highly-charged
E-clouds beginning to form. :-)
