6M amps are no more or less expensive than HF amps.  Prices for HF amps are 
all over the board depending on if you buy used, new...have the ability to 
repair/restore etc.

In the grand tradition of Ham Radio one should easily be able to pick up a 
used SB-200 and perform the mods necessary to make a very nice 6M amp for 
under $500...probably a lot less.  You need to have some technical ability 
though...and not be an appliance operator.  One of the hallmarks of Amateur 
Radio is the technical innovation that comes from it.  As a Ham...new or 
old, we should work towards that end.

Learn a technical skill and how to work with your hands on this stuff...
