I think most hams who are really interested in 6M operating and 6M operating
achievement awards know that LOTW doesn't count for VUCC or any other ARRL
awards besides DXCC and WAS, and that eQSL doesn't count for any ARRL or CQ
awards at all. I upload all my 6M QSOs to LOTW, always have, and my LOTW
response rate for this band is about 5%. Why? Because there is no LOTW support
for VUCC. If and when ARRL decides to support VUCC with LOTW, that might
change. Might. Personally, I think the whole LOTW program is fatally flawed.
Time will tell.
But that really misses the point. When somebody sends you a QSL card and an
SASE, he's saying that your return verification is important to him, to his
operating goals, and to his enjoyment of the hobby. And he's wanting to make
it as easy for you as possible to help him out. To simply trash his
considerate request out of hand seems like the height of mean-spirited
selfishness. Yes, one has the "right" to react that way, but that doesn't make
it a laudable way to live one's life. My opinion only, needless to say. :-)
I'll continue to help any ham who could use my help, whether it's a QSL card,
a bit of advice about 6M operating, antenna design, or anything else I can
contribute. That's what makes this such a great hobby. Or used to, anyway.
