I've tried it on 6, with the 6-element beam to the northwest for aurora and a 3 element on 'my' side and  have used one on 432 with a corner reflector on 'my' side and a 14 element on the other to reach a distant ATV box.

Both worked pretty well. Consider that many TV stations use exactly the same method to fill in sheltered valleys without sucking up a translator frequency...cheap and easy.
