Truer words were never spoken! And the corollary to that is, there is no
better revealer of a CRAPPY receiver front end than 6M during a strong
contest Es opening! This is how I discovered (much to my dismay) that the
TS-2000 is not a serious DX/contest receiver, and why I am going to be
supplanting it some time this year, probably with a new Ten-Tec OMNI-VII,
which just started shipping. Initial reports are very good, but waiting for
the bench metrics to come out... This radio covers HF + 6M, and Ten-Tec
actually specifies some really amazing 2 kHz spacing dynamic range numbers
for the thing. Check it out on their website. If the third-party lab bench
results (ARRL, Sherwood, etc.) come anywhere near the DR numbers Ten-Tec
claims, this is going to be one awesome radio for the price ($2500-$2800)...
It will completely blow the IC-756 Pro III and its ilk out of the water.
Fingers crossed...
