[50mhz] MFJ-949E and 50 Mhz ?

Stefan-
I see no reason not to use the 949E as a meter, although the accuracy 
may not be high. Turn the selector switch to "Bypass" for the coax 
you want to use (1 or 2) and ignore the settings for the coil and 
capacitors. In "Bypass" mode, the signal goes directly through the 
meter pick-up to the connectors.

The main limitation of the 949 as far as frequency is concerned is in 
tuning, not measurement. Just to be extra cautious, I would start at 
a low power setting on the Transceiver, and make changes in the power 
as you see the results.

I have used a CB (27MHz) meter to find the proper (Minimum SWR) 
length for an antenna for a 2 Meter hand held.
