Gidday, After finding the limitations of the wide-open front end of my
FT817 on 50MHz, and the noise blanker that is selective as to how well
it works (great on Ignition but nothing else); I tracked down a TS680s
and was amazed at the effectiveness of the double/tuneable NB system.
The receiver is very sensitive, and the internal gain can be adjusted as
well, but the rig suffers from "blocking" when in the presence of a
strong signal even 25khz away. Does anyone have a mod or fix for this
problem. Is it an AGC problem? Any suggestions? Does anyone have
experience of the TS940 (same era, similar circuitry) suffering the same
problem. The rig, even though it could be classed to be in the "Boat
Anchor" division, works very well indeed in all other aspects.
