The opening to XE last night was cool, but the one the previous night
(Saturday) was amazing. Strongest backscatter on 6M I've ever heard. Worked
two new close-in grids in AZ plus QSOs into TX, CA, and UT, all with the
beam peaking all signals at due south. Seven different AZ stations were
heard and worked on backscatter with some signals peaking to S7. A few
weaker backscatter sigs Sunday eve, but nothing like Saturday.
Band was open strongly to XE again this AM -- in fact stilll is, albeit more
weakly. Heard reports of a very brief but strong opening early this morning
to CA from here in NM. I missed it... Was it strong XE backscatter again, or
was it true East-West sporadic-E? Maybe we'll get an early start on the
season this year!
Won't be long now, in any case. :-)
