As a newbie to 6 meters, I'd sure like to know of contests and stuff
happening on 6.
I've just put up a 6 meter antenna , and I havent heard much on it.
I'm beginning to think i wasted a lot of money.
Where is everyone ?? What frequency??
Thanks

Ken, 6 meters is a band that "opens up" at odd times for weird reasons. A
good indication of "if the band is open" is to listen for beacons that are
around the country. Granted, the band rarely "opens" very often, but when it
does BE READY since the opening may only last a short while, or it can last
hours. That is why they call it the magic band. You didn't
waste a lot of money you only invested in the future. 50.125 is the
calling freq. If you are looking for some ground wave contacts, try calling CQ on
50.125, then move off that freq. with a QSO. Remember, 6 meter is NOT like
all the other bands. At contest time the band comes alive and hopefully
sometime during a contest an opening will occur. See you there. Lou W1QJ
