by the rules.

The error you're making is thinking our rules are the only rules. Truth
is, 6M ceased to be "our" band in the late 80's; most of Region 1 now
has 6M privileges, to one degree or another, and their own bandplans! as
an example, the current UK bandplan (and I assume it follows the IARU
Region 1 version) honors our 50-50.1 CW -only segment and 50.110 as the
international calling frequency but then goes its own way... CW & SSB
DXing is from 50.1 to 50.130. The Crossband "centre of activity" is
50.185, MS is 50.200, PSK31 is 50.250 and PSK441 is 50.260-50.280. Their
centre of non-DX activity is 50.150.

The reality is that bandplans go out the window when the "feeding frenzy"
of a double-hop E or F2 opening appears. At the onset, the first stations
to appear are usually low in the DX window; as more stations get on &
propagation (& QRM) intensifies, everone moves further up the band. As a
consequence, I've worked SSB DX well above 50.200 many times. This is not
a matter of outlawsw but rather proof of the inadequacy of our 25 KHz DX
Window when the eastern half of the US is hearing the western half of
Europe? Same thing with the UK bandplan.
