It ain't called the magic band for
nuthin'.........my best suggestion is to
listen.....and call CQ frequently. Get a free
digital voice keyer, make up a "CQ 6 meters" WAV
file, and let it run. You never know who may be listening.

During a fantastic opening while I lived in
Alaska (ex-WL7M), I worked all states in 30
days. That's definitely magic! On a dead band,
I called CQ a few times and heard a faint reply -
turns out it was Pitcairn Island. We had a brief
30 second QSO before he faded. His QSL is in hand. Magic!

I now live in Colorado, and in the past two years
have managed to work 40 states including Alaska
(I need a lot of New England states). Best
suggestion again, is listen. But don't forget to
call CQ - you could have a "dead band QSO" with
Pitcairn or some other "magic" place!

You may also want to try WSJT - meteor scatter -
the limit is up to around 1500 miles on a great day, but it's fun!

Hope to hear you on the magic band!
